Making Art in “Jungle” Workshops

Children will have fun and express their creativity during the “Jungle” workshops. Choose from three different sessions (1 hour each for $28 plus gst) – or attend all three (3.5 hours for $80 plus gst.)

Three workshops: Book Making, Jewellery, Painting – From 10.30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This is our second Making Art in the Jungle Workshop for children 5 to 12 years. Parents / carers may stay as observers or helpers, but this is not required, unless your child needs individualised support. (Please let us know if you want to stay in the checkout comments, we have limited places for additional adults and need to manage social distancing and seating). If your child is not able to follow instruction or needs more support than 1 staff to 5 children can provide, then please discuss with Julie prior to booking.

If your child is attending more that one workshop on the day, please have your child bring a (nut free) snack and / or lunch to have during the breaks. Drinking water will be provided.

book making1. Book Making – 10.30-11.30 a.m.

Books have the power to spread ideas, change minds and bring children joys. Your children will empower themselves by making their own books. They can right down or paint their stories about the jungle in their books. Participants in “Book making workshop” will participate in creating a book and in the process, practice cutting, coloring, pasting and threading.

Participants are provided with all supplies provided including: papers, scissors, yarn or ribbon, drawing or writing suppliers, colored construction paper or cardstock.

 

bear paper dough necklace2. Jewellery (necklace) OR hanging decoration  – 11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.

In this workshop, children will make a necklace or hanging decoration with paper dough which they can wear at the end of the workshop or take home to decorate their room.  The necklace will have a face of a jungle animals. They will color a plate of paper dough and then make an animal face and add it to this plate.  In the process, participants practice coloring and making 3D volumes.

Participants are provided with all supplies provided including: paper dough, PVA glue, acrylic paints, thread cord.

tree stamp painting3. Trees with stamp painting – 1 p.m. – 2 p.m.

Participants in “stamp painting” will participate in painting with using sponge and cotton swab. In the process practice stamping and painting.

At the end of the class, they have a pointillist style painting.

Participants are provided with all supplies provided including: paper, acrylic paint, sponge, cotton swab, brush, elastic band.

About your teacher.

Setareh Hosseini is a visual artist who has exhibited internationally. As a child she was touched by her mothers art classes in a family where music and painting formed the atmosphere in the home. She has extensive experience teaching adults and children to be creative through a range of art forms and loves helping children be creative. Setareh completed a Masters of Illustration in 2005 at the Faculty of Art and Architecture, Tehran, Iran. She also has a BA in graphic design and an MA in illustration.  Setareh has a Working with Children Check.

Maryam has her bachelor and master degrees in industrial design and has 15 years of experience in painting and sculpting and also teaching visual arts. She has several exhibitions around the world in painting and sculpting and a few times she was nominated for her artwork. Maryam makes sculptures and wearable small sculptures as jewellery with different materials like metal, clay, plaster and paper pulp.  Maryam has a Working with Children Check.

You can be at ease knowing your child/ren are in caring, professional and qualified hands.

Your child should not attend the class if they, or any family members have COVID-19 OR are a close primary contact of anyone with COVID-19, OR if you are experiencing fever, chills or sweat, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose of have a loss of taste or smell. (A full refund will be provided if you are unwell).
