Making Art in “Jungle” Workshops

Children will have fun and express their creativity during the “Jungle” workshops. Choose from three different sessions (1 hour each for $28 plus gst) – or attend all three (3.5 hours for $80 plus gst.)

Three workshops: Animal Sculpture, Lion Craft, Fluid Art – From 10.30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

These workshops are for children 5 to 12 years. Parents / carers may stay as observers or helpers, but this is not required, unless your child needs individualised support. (Please let us know if you want to stay in the checkout comments, we have limited places for additional adults and need to manage social distancing and seating). If your child is not able to follow instruction or needs more support than 1 staff to 5 children can provide, then please discuss with Julie prior to booking.

If your child is attending more than one workshop on the day, please have your child bring a (nut free) snack and / or lunch to have during the breaks. Drinking water will be provided.

paper mache animal1. Animal Sculpture – 10.30 – 11.30 a.m.

It this workshop children will make a sculpture of an animal from the jungle from recycled paper and boxes. Using the paper mache technique, participants can choose to make a lion or a bear (or another jungle animal). It will be challenging and interesting to make a sculpture by recycling paper and boxes. In the process participants practice cutting paper, sticking and making 3D volumes.

At the end of the session, children have a cute sculpture that has been created from recycled material.

Participants are provided with all supplies provided including: PVA Glue, newspaper, egg carton, toilet paper roll, craft glue, balloons, cardboard.

2. Lion craft – 11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.

Children have a lot of fun with making crafts with different materials.

They can create a kind lion with curly mane.

Participants in “Lion craft” will participate in creating a lion and in the process practice cutting, curling, pasting and adding different parts of lion’s face with different materials.

Participants are provided with all supplies provided including: different colors, paper plate, wiggle plastic eyes, painting and drawing suppliers, glue stick, scissors.

3. Fluid Art – 1 p.m. – 2 p.m.

Create a jungle scene with flowers using fluid art techniques, where the paint is poured, and no brushes are used. We will pour our background from a cup and use a straw to ‘blow’ flowers.

Participants are provided with all supplies provided including: acrylic paint, pouring medium, gloves, apron, cups, tools and small canvas.

Note: Fluid art needs to lie flat to dry, so it cannot be taken home on the day. It can be picked up from the studio in 2 to 3 days’ time (at the next class if you are attending more from the school holiday range of classes.)

We use acrylic paint that is non toxic. Remember to wear old clothes as it can be a messy business, and whilst the paint and mediums will wash out if you get to it quickly, that is not always easy to do.
