This class with teach and demonstrate two fluid art techniques that use the addition of Satin Enamel Paint – the Cloud technique AND the Pearl Pour. 

‘Cloud Pour’ gets it’s name because of how the paints ‘puff up’ in a cloud like effect when we mix satin enamel paint into one of more of the acrylic paints. It is an technique which can give amazing and surprising results. You can apply the paint in a straight or ring pour and see the magic happen..

‘Pearl Pour’ is named due to the unique pearl shapes that form when two layers of thin paint interact, especially when the special ingredient of Satin Enamel is added. The pearls can be big or small, variations based on the type of paint and the paint consistency.  We will be doing the variety where we can add Satin Enamel paint that gives very different shapes. The style using satin enamel paint is influenced by Sarah Taylor. You can choose the classic white base or go for a multi colour base and single colour top layer.

After some paint play and practice on a small canvas, you will create your masterpiece on a 12 x16 inch (30 x 40cm) or similar gallery wrapped canvas or similar which you can collect after 3 days drying time (or arrange to have sent to you). You can choose to do either technique.

This class uses some higher quality (more expensive) paints and pouring mediums to optimise the effects, so the price is slightly higher than the standard class.

You will learn:

• How to prepare your canvas
• How to mix paints and paint mediums suitable for this technique
• Pouring mediums and recipes that are good for this technique and what difference this makes.
• How to choose colours and layer your paints on the canvas or in the cup.
• How to create cloud effects.
• How to do a ring pour.

All supplies provided including canvases, paint, pouring medium, cups, gloves, apron and tools. We provide plenty of space, with a maximum of 8 participants. Light refreshments (tea, coffee) provided. This is a ‘Paint and Sip’ event, so you are welcome to BYO drinks and nibbles. We provide glasses and plates. We use acrylic paint that is non toxic. Remember to wear old clothes as it can be a messy business, and whilst the paint and mediums will wash out if you get to it quickly, that is not always easy to do.
