This is a 6 week course to help you express your creativity and develop your acrylic painting skills. Based on feedback from previous classes, this course will be structured to help you understand the tools of painting and explore techniques before launching into painting your creations.

In these 6 x 3 hour classes, you will learn about different painting tools and brushes and how to use them, and you will do exercises based on the effects created by different brushes and tools and finally you paint a landscape and a flower on two canvases. The techniques will be demonstrated and you get to practice them before using them in create your final painting.

Behind every great piece of art, there is a good set of art tools that enables the artist to achieve the end result they envisioned.

In this course you will:

• Learn the essential tools for artists and how to work with them
• Understand how to care for your paint brushes
• Learn and practice various painting techniques including blending, various brush strokes, how to layer paint and more
• Learn which brushes to use for different techniques
• Practice on acrylic papers or panels
• Create 2 large paintings on a 40 x 50 cm canvas

You will be provided with acrylic paint, four acrylic papers (cardboard’s or canvas panels) and two 40 x 50 canvases. These are included in the cost. Because this class is a technique class, each participant must prepare and bring tools / paint brushes and pallet knife to be able to work with them professionally.

The list of tools will be provided upon registration and need to be purchased before the first session (or you may already have them). The cost of the tools will range from approximately $35 to $200, depending on your choice of brand.

Learn acrylic painting in a fun, relaxed, small class. No previous experience is required.

Acrylics are a fabulous medium as they are easy to work with, colours are vibrant, and they dry quickly.

Live For Art classes provide a supportive and friendly environment for students to build confidence and develop their art practice with guidance and feedback from their tutor.

This is a 6 week course, as the course builds on acrylic techniques and works together as a whole, it is not suitable to just do only one session.

The course is $396 (inc gst) (which is $66 a class).

Flower / Georgia O’keeffe
Painting practice using dramatic colour palette and blending colours to create unique fusion of realism and abstraction.

Painting 2 :
Landscape / Peter Batchelder
Painting practice using thick paints on canvas to create depth and movement to highlight form and the way light defines a subject.

Your Tutor – Setareh Hosseini  

Setareh is a visual artist who has exhibited internationally. As a child she was touched by her mothers art classes in a family where music and painting formed the atmosphere in the home. She has extensive experience teaching adults and children to be creative through a range of art forms. Setareh completed a Masters of Illustration in 2005 at the Faculty of Art and Architecture, Tehran, Iran. She also has a BA in graphic design and an MA in illustration.
