CHILDREN’S ART SCHOOL HOLIDAY WORKSHOP – Fluid Art, Acrylic Painting, Watercolour
This 3 hour workshop explore three forms of art – watercolour painting, acrylic painting (with paint brushes) and Fluid Art. All activities are fun and can be accessible to all ages.Â
Watercolour / Inky painting: Using watercolour paper as a base, we will use watercolour paint and possibly some inks to create magical effects and an abstract art form. The process of the paint and ink interacting with the water is fun and inspiring.
Acrylic Painting: We will start by practicing to blend paint on a small canvas using a paint brush and then add some textured paint for trees or flowers with a brush or palette knife.
Fluid Art: Children will be introduced to the wonder of fluid art where they can create beautiful, colourful pieces of artwork. We will do one fluid art painting on a 30 x 40 cm canvas. With no brushes required, they’ll learn the technique of pouring paint to create stunning paintings. Please note that the fluid art paintings will need to lie flat to dry and can be picked up from the studio in 2-3 days’ time.
NO painting experience is needed.Â
This class is for children 6 years to 14 years. Parents / carers may stay as observers or helpers, but this is not required, unless your child needs individualised support. (Please let us know if you want to stay as a helper in the checkout comments as we have limited places for additional non participants and need to manage social distancing and seating). If your child is not able to follow instruction or needs more support than 1 staff to 8 children can provide, then please discuss with Julie prior to booking.
Participants will learn:
- How to make paint fluid
- How to work with watercolour paints and acrylic and fluid paint in a range of different styles
- How to mix paints and paint mediums suitable for the fluid art technique we do
- How to blend acrylic paint on the canvas and use a palette knife
- How to add texture and patterns to a painting
Participants are provided with:
- All supplies: acrylic paint, watercolour paint, water colour paper, pouring medium, gloves, apron, cups, tools, two canvas (one 8 x 10 inch and once 12 x 16 inch). All supplies provided including canvases, paint, pouring medium, cups, gloves, plastic apron and tools.

We use acrylic paint that is non toxic. Remember to wear old clothes as it can be a messy business, and whilst the paint and mediums will wash out if you get to it quickly, that is not always easy to do.
